Streetlights: Residents From Jmc-g Raise Issues Of Faulty Streetlights | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Residents from Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Greater area said that in many areas streetlights are not functioning and no action has been taken despite complaints. Areas like Raja Park, Tilak Nagar, Vaishali, Prithviraj Nagar, Sanganer have been facing the issue since last few weeks now, said residents.
“Across the city, around 30% of lights are not functional.Hence residents and councillors have complained multiple times, but no proper action has been taken by the authorities. Earlier, councillors used to take the complaints to officials, but now residents have started raising complaints on the municipal corporation’s portal. However, they are awaiting solutions,” said Sukhpreet Bansal, chairperson for the street light committee.
Councillors also said that two to three tenders were done for purchase of new lights, but they were not issued on time.
“Maintenance and installation of new lights could not be done this year because of the model code of conduct as tenders were not issued on time. Due to this, even during the festive season, many localities in the city are still in the dark and the situation is unlikely to improve,” added Bansal. TNN
