Rajasthan: Five of a family crushed to death by truck in Jhalawar | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Five members of a family were killed after a speeding dumper truck plowed into them near Mandawar area of Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
According to police, the victims were laborers. They were sleeping in a shanty alongside the highway when the dumper truck lost control, possibly due to excessive speed, and plowed into their makeshift home.
The victims were identified by Mandawar police station as Suresh, his wife Sita Bai, their kids-Pawan, Kamlesh and Nirmala. Head-constable, Brij Raj told TOI that the family was sleeping when the speeding vehicle floundered and hit run over them.
“The accident took place shortly after midnight. We had detained the truck driver from the scene,” he said. The police claimed two other sustained injuries in the accident.
