₹6.75cr Seized From Suv In Bhilwara, Two Detained | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Bhilwara police on Wednesday seized Rs 6.75 crore from a SUV with a Gujarat number plate and detained two persons.
As per, IG Ajmer Rupinder Singh, cops suspect it to be a case of hawala money. “The two persons could not give any plausible reason as to why they had hidden so much cash in the car,” he said. Additional SP Chanchal Mishra said that police have detained Rahul Chavda (30) and Jai Deep Singh Chavda (32), both residents of Mehsana in Gujarat.
She said that Bhilwara police have also informed Income Tax, and Enforcement Directorate (ED) about the seized cash.
Rajasthan police suspect that money was being used for illegal purposes. As per police, constable Banwari Lal had received an input a few days ago that some persons were clandestinely transporting cash from one place to another.
Acting on the constable’s information, a team of Bhilwara police intercepted an SUV near Aawri Mata chowraha and found two persons inside the vehicle.
Mishra said that police discovered several wads of cash in the vehicle. “The two men inside the SUV could not provide a satisfactory answer about the cash,” she said.
Rajasthan police said that central agencies have been informed about the incident. “We can’t rule out the possibility of some hawala network transporting cash from one place to another. ED and IT would be able to determine if the cash were clean or not,” said a senior official.
Several hawala operators often use Rajasthan as one of the transit route to move cash to different cities.
