Voters’ Lists: Himanta Raises ‘babur Raj’ Bogey, Slams Gehlot Over Sanatana Row |

Jaipur/Jodhpur: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday accused the Congress government in Rajasthan of forging voters’ lists “for establishing Babur Raj” in the state.
“You (Gehlot) are manufacturing voters’ lists for establishing Babur Raj. I do not understand Gehlot’s affection for Babur and Aurangzeb,” said Sarma in his address at BJP’s Parivatan Sankalp Yatra in Jodhpur, in an apparent reference to Muslim voters of Rajasthan.
Claiming that Hindus are facing slogans like ‘Sar tan se juda’ in Rajasthan, Sarma said, “It is a matter of shame to see that in the land of Rajasthan, where Durgadas Rathore fought against Aurangzeb and the great Maharana Pratap was born, Hindus facing the slogans like ‘Sar tan se juda’.”
“If somebody in my state yells ‘Sar tan se juda,’ action follows within a minute. This is how a nation is ruled,” said Sarma, referring to such slogans allegedly raised in Rajasthan during a demonstration against BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma in 2022. Sarma’s address met with cheers of ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’ slogans from the audience.
The Assam CM blasted Gehlot and Rahul Gandhi over their stance on the controversial remarks about Sanatana Dharma by Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Sarma said though Gehlot and Gandhi have been traveling across the nation, they have never been to Ayodhya. “They avoid visiting the Ram Lala temple out of concern that Babur may suffer. Even their silence about the criticisms of Sanatana Dharma voiced by their ally reveals where they stand on the dharma,” he added.
Accusing Gehlot of holding an anti-Hindutva stand, Sarma said, “CM Gehlot says he will not allow Hindutva in Rajasthan. I want to ask him: Who are you? Rajasthan had Hindutva for the past 5,000 years. Hindutva will not wait for your approval….it exists in every household in Rajasthan. If Hindutva does not exist in Rajasthan, will Babar run the state?”
