11-yr-old girl playing in city park raped, 32-year-old accused held | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in a park in Ramnagariya area of the city late on Thursday night.
Arun Choudhary, the SHO of Ramnagariya police station, said that the accused was identified as Jitendra Banjara.
“The incident took place shortly after 10:30pm, when the girl was playing in a park.After the incident, her parents approached us at about 1am to file an FIR. We formed a few teams and managed to arrest the accused,” he added.
The minor girl was playing at the park near her house when Jitendra Banjara lured her away and committed the crime, according to the statements of her parents to police. Banjara has no permanent employment and has been doing odd jobs, said police.
When the girl did not return home from the park, her family and neighbours launched a search for her and alerted the local police. Soon police teams fanned out in different directions to trace her. Meanwhile the residents found the girl and heard her narrate her ordeal. A police team then managed to trace and arrest Banjara while he was trying to flee the area, said an official.
A case has been filed against Banjara under IPC Section 376 (rape) and relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, said the official, adding that the girl was being sent for a medical examination.
“We are interrogating the accused. His possible criminal antecedents are also being examined. We plan to file an early chargesheet in the case,” said the official.
