1,500 Cops To Be Deployed For Ru Student Union Polls | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Jaipur police will deploy 1,500 personnel for the Rajasthan University Student’s Union (RUSU) elections.
DCP (East) Rajeev Pachar said that personnel will be drawn from Special Task Force (STF), Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC), and local police stations. Pachar said that the deployment will stand guard for both elections on Friday, and the counting of votes on Saturday.
“Police units will be posted at each booth. We will also keep a close eye on every entry and exit gate of the university,” Pachar said.
The Jaipur police on Wednesday also held an important that included the university staff, and traffic police officials to chalk out a strategy ahead of the elections.
“We have instructed everyone that the Lyngdoh committee recommendations should strictly be followed. No outsider will be allowed to enter the university campuses,” Pachar added.
Police said that they have already increased security arrangements around the university and its syndicate colleges.
The Jaipur police said that vehicles have been barred to enter the university. The officials said that ferry vehicles will be available for students like e-rickshaws.
Pachar appealed to students to follow the guidelines for the elections.
“We have asked students to carry their id cards when they come for the voting. No vehicles will be allowed inside the campus,” he said, adding that all kinds of rallies are also prohibited.
“Canvasing on the voting day is strictly barred too, outsiders will not be given entry into the colleges,” Pachar said.
The Jaipur police said that local police stations are keeping a close vigil at all hostels, and paying guest (PG) houses in different areas of the city.
“Cops in plain clothes have also increased vigilance inside the campus, we have caught several persons entering the campus without ids or fake ids,” said an official.
