2 Days After He Went Missing, Anurag Remains Untraceable | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Even two days after Aunrag Maloo, the mountaineer from Kishangarh in Ajmer district, went missing, the rescue team could not trace him. Incessant weather at Mt. Annapurna proved to be a great hindrance to carry out the rescue operation on Wednesday.
“On Wednesday no rescue operation was possible because of the weather. We had been told that there was incessant snowfall in the mountains throughout the day,” a close relative of Anurag Maloo, told TOI, from Nepal.
Rajasthan sports minister Ashok Chandna had written to chief minister Ashok Gehlot requesting him to get in touch with the officers of the Ministry of External Affairs and expedite the search operation.
“Anurag Maloo, a resident of Kishangarh, Ajmer went on a mountaineering expedition at Mt Annapurna in the Himalayan range in Nepal. He has been missing since April 17. His last location has been traced between Camp No 3 and Camp No 2. I request you to get in touch with officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and expedite the search operation,” the letter mentioned.
Even Maloo’s family had written a letter to External Affair Minister S Jaishankar and India’s ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava.
Meanwhile, with several climbers returning to the base camp on Tuesday and Wednesday, news had started pouring in about how Maloo had fallen down into the crevasse on Monday.
Satyarup Siddhanta, a Bangalore-based climber who had scaled Mt. Everest in 2016, stated that Maloo was not feeling well when he reached Camp IV. He decided to abort the mission and the incident had taken place while he was ascending.
“What I came to know is that the anchor of his rope got stuck with the mountain walls and unfortunately got dismantled from the wall. Maloo lost control because of this and fell into the crevasse,” added Siddhantha
