Jaipur: Two forests, in Khatipura and Muhana, will be developed in Jaipur for which the Centre has given approval, said Jaipur Member of Parliament Ramcharan Bohra.
Bohra said that a city forest will be built across 26 hectares of forest department’s land in Muhana panchayat. For this, Rs 1.4 crore has been sanctioned by the central government, of which Rs 72.80 lakh has been transferred to the state government as the first instalment.
Bohra said, “Recently a city forest has been approved by the Centre in Khatipura and Muhana panchayat areas, which will help boost tourism in Jaipur. The Muhana panchayat has also been selected under the Adarsh Gram Yojana, which will further help in rapid development of this area. Due to lack of any tourist place in this area, tourists never come to this part of the city, but now with the city locals will also get employment opportunities.”
He said that a boundary wall will be built all around the city forest and its fencing will also be done.
A walking track will also be made in the city forests, along with installation of bio toilets, rain water harvesting systems.
“This city forest will cater to residents and tourists from both Jaipur and outside and will be developed to become a centre of attraction for tourists. This will also become a place where different kinds of birds, especially the fauna of the human habitation can live,”
