2 killed in celebratory firing at pre-wedding function in Alwar | Jaipur News

ALWAR/JAIPUR: Panic prevailed at Samochi village in Rajashan’s Alwar district after two people were killed in a celebratory firing during a pre-wedding function on Sunday evening.
Two others sustained injuries in the firing incident.
Police have detained two people who were guests at the functions.
According to the police, the incident took place at 9pm when the families and friends have gathered at the village for the Lagan-Teeka (pre-wedding) ceremony of Devi Singh.
“During a gathering for food, ceremony, and dancing, some individuals began firing celebratory shots, resulting in the death of two people and the injury of two others,” Kathumar circle officer Ashok Chauhan told TOI.
He added it appeared that those who opened fire in jubilation were drunk and could not control the fire, especially the barrel of the gun due to which this happened.
“The deceased were identified as a woman Dinesh Kanwar(35) a resident of Salwadi village and Sagar Singh(8). The injured are Hansi Kanwar(30) and Prachi Singh(10). Both the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital,” Chauhan added.
Panic prevailed at the spot when people saw four injured out of which two succumbed to the injuries.
“We have detained two people from the spot and are interrogating them. We are investigating if the firing was done by one person or two persons. Prima facie it appears that the celebratory fire went wrong and the person who opened fire was in an inebriated condition,” Alwar superintendent of police Tejaswini Gautam said.
A large number of policemen reached the spot to maintain law and order.
