2 more spells of rain, hailstorm in Rajasthan by April 15: Met | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Hailstorms accompanied by rain, thunder and lightning that have been giving sleepless nights to farmers in March will continue till April 15 as two more spells are expected this month. The Jaipur Met office said that on Monday, rain and hailstorm will recur at many places in the state.
From April 15 onwards, the Met office said, temperatures are likely to increase across the state.
In March, six spells of hailstorm, thunderstorm and lightning have already had an adverse effect on crops of soyabean, wheat and mustard. Now on Monday there is again the possibility of hailstorm and rain in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions of the state, the Met office said.
Attributing the excess rainfall, hailstorm and lightning to anti-cyclonic circulation and western disturbances, the Jaipur Met office said that two more such spells are expected this month.
On Saturday, many places in the state including Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Alwar and Bharatpur witnessed mild to moderate showers and lightning which caused the mercury to take a dip. “Since last Friday, the mercury has dropped on average almost 6 degrees Celsius in both maximum and minimum temperatures,” said a Met officer in Jaipur. People in Jaipur on Saturday woke up to a comparatively chilly morning when a minimum temperature of 15.2°C was recorded. It was followed by a pleasant afternoon with a maximum temperature of 29.2°C. “It was the coldest morning of the season so far,” said the Met officer.
In the evening, Jaisalmer, Barmer and Jodhpur districts witnessed mild showers and lightning, the officer said.
