2,000 suspects held by Rajasthan cops in major operations across 12 districts | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A 8,000-strong force of the Rajasthan police swooped down on hideouts of criminals Sunday morning and arrested over 2,000 suspects in one of the biggest crackdowns against fugitives and organised syndicates across a dozen major districts, including Jaipur (Rural), Kota, Churu, Alwar and Bhiwadi.
Additional DG (Crime) Dinesh MN told TOI that the police ordered a crackdown to check upon notorious criminals, history-sheeters, and goons listed by police as “hardcore criminals”.
“The exercise was particularly targeted at accused who have a history of using illegal firearms,” he said. The operation began at 5am in Kota (city), Kota (rural), Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar districts under the Kota police range, and Jaipur (Rural), Alwar, Sikar, Bhiwadi, Dausa, and Jhunjhunu under the Jaipur police range.

“We also included Churu, a district under the Bikaner range, in the operation,” Dinesh told TOI. Till late evening Sunday, a total of 2,107 suspects were held but officials in Kota and Jaipur range said that the figure may increase as various police stations were still filing cases.
Police said that they recovered four desi ‘katas’ (crude handguns) and two pistols during searches in the Jaipur range. Four illegal weapons were recovered from Kota.
“We gave clear directions to all district SPs before the operation, including examining banks accounts of suspects and their properties and vehicles by checking their registered owners,” Dinesh told TOI.
Police teams were also asked to check their contacts and aides, facilitators, and online activities.
Some 100 tractors used by the mining mafia and illegal liquor were seized by a team led by Jaipur range IG.
In Kota range, as many as 20 fugitives were arrested.
