Jaipur: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot had called for a late evening review meeting on Thursday where he instructed the power department to replace the faulty transformers on time. Gehlot said that the government is ready to purchase electricity even at expensive rates for uninterrupted power supply, so that consumers do not face problems during festivals.
In the meeting, various points including the average demand and availability of electricity in the three discom areas, replacement of damaged transformers, availability of coal were reviewed.
Gehlot said that despite good monsoon in June-July, the demand for electricity increased significantly in August due to low rainfall and heat. Also, low supply of coal has also led to a gap in electricity demand and supply. Despite this, the state government is making every possible effort to ensure uninterrupted supply reduce unavoidable power cuts and impose power cuts only after prior information to the consumers. He said that there will be no reduction in power supply in the coming months also.
He gave instructions to officials to visit rural areas and take feedback from public representatives and consumers. The energy department officials said that in October, November and December, the demand for electricity can go up to 9,887 lakh units per day, and there is an availability of 8,389 lakh units per day. For additional demand, availability of 691 lakh units of electricity per day has been ensured and the remaining demand will be met through short-term tender and banking.

Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (Lesa) has announced that power supply to 11 KV overhead wires will be switched off during the Barawafat procession in Lucknow to prevent accidents. This action comes after a previous incident where a tazia caught fire after coming into contact with a high-tension wire. Areas such as Old Haiderganj, Bhadeva, Aishbagh Road, and Anupam Nagar will be affected for five hours. Lesa officials have issued a circular informing consumers about the power supply disruption.

The power supply to 11 KV overhead wires will be suspended in areas such as Old Haiderganj, Bhadeva, Aishbagh Road, and Anupam Nagar. Additionally, areas including Aminabad, Nazirabad, Mohan Market, and Moulviganj will also experience power disruptions for the same reason.
