Manak Chowk police have arrested three persons for allegedly passing on misleading information on social media about changes made in a centuries-old temple in Badi Chauper.

JAIPUR: Manak Chowk police have arrested three persons for allegedly passing on misleading information on social media about changes made in a centuries-old temple in Badi Chauper.
DCP (north) Paris Deshmukh told TOI on Friday that three persons were arrested so far and the FIR was registered under the IT act.
The police action came in the backdrop of multiple messages and videos going viral on social media about alleged changes made in the Laxminarayan temple complex in Badi Chauper.
Jaipur police commissioner Anand Shrivastava said rumours on social media were circulated with the intention to disrupt communal harmony. He added that no changes or construction were done at the temple complex.
“The temple is managed by the devasthan department and all religious practises and services are normally happening,” he said.
Talking about the case, Deshmukh said that there is a very old Jyoti (flame) in the corner of the complex. People of all faiths from local areas come there when their prayers and wishes are fulfilled.
“The temple is nearly 300 years old and nothing has changed there,” Deshmukh said.
As per the police, the social media rumours were circulated with mala fide intentions to mislead people that some persons of a different faith had allegedly made changes in the temple complex.
The police denied allegations and filed an FIR against nine persons. Deshmukh said that more arrests are likely in the case.
