35 Aides Of Godara, 470 Followers On Social Media Arrested This Year | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: In an exercise aimed at preventing youngsters from becoming the foot soldiers of gangster Rohit Godara, police in Bikaner have been arresting those who idolise him on social media and are found involved in various crimes. As many as 35 aides of Godara and nearly 470 others found following the gangster on social media or making positive comments on the crimes he has committed have been arrested so far this year.

The 35 aides were found involved in extortion and loot by claiming to be from Rohit Godara’s gang, said police. The crackdown is part of a campaign titled ‘Saavdhan,’ which is a strategic exercise by Bikaner police against violence, heinous crime and negligent behaviour on social media.
“We have arrested 36 people involved in loot, extortion and other crimes and were linked to Rohit Godara’s gang in Bikaner district so far this year. On Wednesday, too, we arrested one Hari Om Ramawat and booked him under Rajpasa Act (Rajasthan Prevention of Antisocial Activities Act, 2006). He was wanted in a case of firing at the house of a local BJP leader,” Bikaner SP Tejaswini Gautam told TOI.

There are many, especially people in the 19-35 age group, who idolise gangsters, she said. “In many of the cases, the arrested person confessed that he aspired to be Rohit Godara and so he committed the crime. We wish to give a loud and clear message that whoever indulges in crime and follows in the footsteps of a gangster will not be spared,” added Gautam.
Bikaner police have got as many as 19 social media accounts suspended this year and arrested 470 people found following gangsters like Rohit Godara on social media and participating in his posts.
“At least 470 were arrested, and many minors were detained and counselled by our teams at various police stations. There were cases in which people were posting a photo with a country-made pistol on social media,” added Gautam. In most of these cases, people were found glorifying Rohit Godara on social media.
