Mohsin is the fifth accused arrested in the Udaipur murder case, so far. Besides two killers, Mohammad Gaus and Mohammad Riyaz, the police had earlier arrested Mohsin Khan and Asif, both involved in the conspiracy by carrying out recces of Kanhaiya Lal’s tailoring shop near Malda Street.
The sources informed TOI that Mohsin was picked up for interrogation for his alleged involvement in aiding the two main culprits in the murder.
“He was arrested to investigate multiple links leading to the murder of Lal, and the conspiracy that preceded the beheading,” said an official.
Sources informed TOI that many other suspects are on the radar of the investigation agencies for various roles in the murder case.
The agency had also made an appeal to handcuff the accused. Sources told TOI that the agency kept the accused’s face covered with a cloth for investigation.
“The interrogation of the other four accused had hinted at the possibility of Mohsin’s involvement, the agencies are looking to corroborate this and have arrested him,” said the official.
Jaipur: Sources said that the accused was associated with a meat shop in Udaipur. “The extent of his involvement in the murder will only be confirmed after interrogation,” the official said.
The agencies are likely to make more arrests as the interrogation progresses and yields more information.
They are also exploring the online activities of the accused, especially those social media groups in which they allegedly post radical messages, Investigators will also try to find out from where the chilling videos were first uploaded by the accused.
The phones of the accused have already been sent for forensic examination, which may help the cops find if these groups have foreign nationals as members.
