Jaipur: Acting against conmen of Mewat, a team comprising more than 150 policemen raided a village under Pahari police station area of Bharatpur during early hours on Sunday and arrested nine persons involved in cheating.
Police have detained two juveniles who were part of the online cheating nexus of Mewat.
Police have also seized three country-made pistols, 21 cartridges, 42 ATM cards, 44 cheque books, five android mobiles, 17 SIM cards, one laptop and Rs 1.69 lakh.
As the conmen of Mewat are already giving sleepless nights to Bharatpur police and bad name to the district, inspector general of police Gaurav Srivastav had specifically asked his men not to wait for FIRs or complaints of cheating but get into some proactive policing.
Srivastav said, cases of online cheating, sextortion are rampant in Pahari, Kaman, Nagar and Jurhera areas and we had witnessed that cheaters from here had cheated people from across the country. Thus, my special team developed some inputs on the network of conmen and we positioned ourselves late on Saturday evening in these villages,” he said. “We wanted to surprise them as rather than just waiting for FIRs against them our team comprising more than 150 policemen including armed policemen raided at Kathol village under Kaman police station area,” he added. tnn
