Nep Implementation Delays Raj Univ’s Admission Process | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The admission process at Rajasthan University is taking longer than expected this year due to the processes involved as part of implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP).
From this academic session, the university will start a semester system. Along with this, officials have been asked to publish a list of credit-based courses and examination schedules on their website at the starting of the session itself, so that students can choose subjects accordingly.
“A detailed report on implementation of NEP with details of starting semester system from the new academic session, what papers to be added, what choice-based courses will be available, has been made and submitted to the vice-chancellor. This report will be presented to the academic council and a meeting of the academic council has been called on June 19. As soon as the academic council approves it, the implementation process will start,” said Prof NK Pandey, convener for NEP at the university.
The report has also been shared with the conveners of board of studies so that they can prepare the syllabus according to the norms of NEP.
Officials said that this year, various courses are likely to be introduced in each stream of the university’s undergraduate degrees. Ability Enhancement Courses, Skill Enhancement Courses, Value Added Courses and Multidisciplinary Courses will be added to the syllabus of the undergraduate degree from the second semester onwards which will help students develop skills along with academic knowledge.
“One of the important things that all universities of the state have been asked to do is publish the list of these additional courses, timetable of the classes and examination schedule for the semester on the official websites as soon as the academic session starts. This way, students will be able to choose which courses they want to take and if one course is in a different institution then they can make their choices according to the timetable. With the examination schedule students will be able to plan also and later the dates won’t clash,” said a senior higher education department officer.
