Monsoon Revives, Light To Moderate Showers In State | Jaipur News

Jaipur/Ajmer/Kota: After a gap of almost a week the revival of south west monsoon since Sunday evening brought light to moderate showers in various parts of the state on Monday. Many areas in Kota, Bikaner, Bharatpur and Jaipur division witnessed mild to moderate showers. Chomu in Jaipur district received a rainfall of 140 mm, which was the highest rainfall in the state on Monday, the Met reports said.
Attributing the revival of the monsoon rainfall to the active northerly winds, the Met office said that from Wednesday the rainfall activity would be widespread and increase in the state. People in Jaipur woke up amidst rainfall, but despite cloudy conditions it did not rain much in the city throughout the day. A rainfall of 35 mm was received in Jaipur till 8.30 am on Monday.
At Ajmer it rained for almost two hours in the morning which created trouble for the commuters on the road. Though a portion of a house collapsed in the Nagra area, no casualty was reported. Many low lying areas including Gujjar Dharti, Dholabhata, Nagra, Bhajanganj, Palbichala and surrounding regions faced water logging as rain water entered many houses. Water logging was again witnessed in the wards of JLN Hospital especially in the orthopaedic ward. Likewise mild to moderate showers were witnessed in Sikar, Fatehpur and nearby areas.
Chomu was followed by Mount Abu (Sirohi) which received rainfall of 130mm, Kotputli (Jaipur) 100mm, Behror (Alwar) and Ramgarh (Hanumangarh) 90 mm each, Bhadra (Hanumangarh) 70mm, Nawalgarh (Jhunjhunu) 50 mm. Also due to excess rainfall in Kota two gates of Kota Barrage dam up to a height of 30 feet were opened to release excess water. This was the third time when the gates of Kota Barrage were to be opened.
