SC/ST: ‘ensure Justice Delivery In Sc/st Atrocity Cases’ | Jaipur News
In the meeting at the chief minister’s residence, Gehlot said that due to the sensitivity of the state government and the action of the police, justice is being ensured to the SC-ST class.
Gehlot said that in the cases of SC-ST atrocities, it should be ensured that justice should be delivered by the police with full sensitivity, without any pressure and without any fear, by doing a quick investigation.
Gehlot said that in SC-ST cases, the scope of review of cases by the police should be increased even after the final report. He also gave instructions to police officers complete the investigation in the pending cases of SC-ST in minimum time, to take steps towards increasing the representation of women in the police, and to create social awareness to prevent crimes against women.
The presentation by the police officers in the meeting said that due to the sensitive policies of the state government, the conviction rate in SC-ST crimes has increased by 12%. The conviction rate in SC cases in Rajasthan is 42% while the all-India average is 36%, the conviction rate in ST cases is 45% while the all-India average is 28%. This is the highest in the country.
Police officials said that despite the mandatory First Information Report registration, there has been a decrease of 4% in the registered cases of crime against SC-ST in the year 2023 as compared to the previous year. The SC-ST class has got a big relief from the compulsory registration policy of First Information Report (FIR).
In the year 2015, about 51% of SC-ST Act cases were registered through the court under CrPC 156(3), now only 10% are left.
