Park: Old Silvan Park Restored, Ready To Open On I-day | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The city residents are in for a treat as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has developed the 113-hectare extension of the Silvan Park on Agra Road. With this, the Pink City will get another park as big as the Central Park. If everything goes as per the plan then the civic body is expected to inaugurate the Silvan park extension on the Independence Day next week.

“We had spent approximately Rs 10 crore for this project as announced by CM Ashok Gehlot during his budget speech of 2019-20. Of this around Rs 4 crore has been spent on civic works. In all likelihood the project would get inaugurated on August 15,” said a JDA official.
Officials said that JDA along with the forest department has developed the forest park on Sumel Road, nearly 5 km from Ghat ki Guni, Agra Road.

Just like the Central Park in Mansarovar this park will have facilities like a full-fledged track, watch tower and ponds. Under forestry work, big trees (10,000), shrubs (10,000), vines (3,000), medicinal plants (20,000), grass area (0.5 hectare) have been developed.
“In future we even have plans to start a safari within a small portion of this park. The safari would be in line with the Jhalana Safari,” another official added.
Officials of the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) department stated that as the city’s outskirts are increasing, the Master Plan 2025 suggested an increase in green cover even in the outskirts of the city. Keeping this in mind the UDH officials had proposed a few parks even in extended parts of the city.
