Notorious: Notorious Snatcher Behind Theft Spree Arrested In City | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Vaishali Nagar police on Friday arrested a 24-year-old notorious snatcher responsible for a series of purse and mobile thefts targeting women, ending his snatching spree that had puzzled cops for a long time.
SHO (Vaishali Nagar) Ishwar Chandra Pareek said that the accused, Sameer alias Sarfaraz, hails from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh and lived in a rented room in the Shastri Nagar area of the city.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused was involved in more than six cases of thefts and snatchings across various parts of the city. He was arrested after a 58-year-old woman lodged a complaint on Wednesday, stating that while she was traveling in an e-rickshaw for grocery shopping, a youth on a motorcycle snatched her purse. The police formed special teams that reviewed more than 100 CCTVs in the Khatipura and Vaishali Nagar areas. Following this process, the team managed to obtain clear images of the accused.
The teams raided the accused’s current location in Jaipur and arrested him. The police reported that Sameer used to take rooms on rent for short durations, often introducing himself as a labourer from Uttar Pradesh. This tactic was used to avoid arousing suspicion among landlords. He also enlisted the assistance of various accomplices for multiple heists. His modus operandi involved first stealing a bike and then targeting market areas, where he would snatch purses, mobiles and jewellery from women. tnn
