Mental Health: Early Identification Of Mental Health Issues Helps: Docs | Jaipur News
Jaipur: With students increasingly facing mental health issues, psychiatrists are advising timely intervention to help them recover and lead normal lives. Coordinated measures of the state government, parents, peer groups and doctors can bail them out, said doctors at the state-run psychiatric centre in the city.
“Early identification of the symptoms can lead to timely treatment of the patients. We plan to start a dedicated counselling centre with 11 cabins at this psychiatry centre soon,” said Dr Lalit Batra, the new medical superintendent of this facility at Adarsh Nagar. The psychiatric centre is a 280-bed hospital catering to patients from across the state and neighbouring states.
Dr Alok Tyagi, head of the department of psychiatry at SMS College and Hospital, said, “A person having mental health issues feels depressed, has low self-esteem and a constant feeling of worthlessness. Whenever such a person seeks help, people should try to understand them. Early identification of such issues and medical intervention are crucial in such cases.”
Students who live away from their hometown and parents for studies and preparation for competitive examinations often face mental health issues for a variety of reasons.
“Tough competition takes a toll on their mental health. The Rajasthan Coaching Institute (Control and Regulation) Bill, 2023, has been prepared to alleviate the mental stress of students,” said Dr Tyagi.
