Seniority: Cracks In Protesting Nursing Bodies Over Seniority Issue | Jaipur News

Jaipur: One of the 11 demands of nursing staff has caused fissure among their unions. The demand of giving notional benefit to contractual employees of 2003 and earlier, who were later made permanent, has made some nurses unhappy who had cleared the RPSC to get selected for nursing posts in 2008 and 2011.
“If the notional benefit is given to 2003 contractual employees, who failed 2008 RPSC examination and other 2011 but government gave them permanent posts after recruiting nurses through RPSC will automatically become senior to RPSC cleared nurses, which is not acceptable to RPSC cleared nurses as they will lose their seniority, if the demand is fulfilled,” said Ram Swaroop, a nurse who was employed as contractual nurse in 2003 but he cleared 2008 RPSC examination. “Our seniority will be lost if the demand is fulfilled. We were recruited first in the government service, and they were regularised after us. They will become our seniors even though they are regularised in the government service after our recruitment,” said Karanchand Sharma, a nurse who worked on the day of mass leave of nurses.
“They also got the opportunity to appear in the RPSC and were given bonus marks for their services as contractual employees, but they failed to clear the RPSC, but they were regularised later. If the demand of giving notional benefit to these contractual nurses who later were regularized by the government, they will get the benefits from the date of joining of contractual service, it could be 1999 or 2003, which is unacceptable to us,” said Rakesh Kumar, a RPSC nurse posted at SMS Hospital.
