Teenage Girl: Poonia Slams Dhariwal For Comment On Kota Suicide | Jaipur News

Jaipur/Kota: Former BJP state president Satish Poonia on Friday attacked UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal for his “defamatory” claims regarding the suicide of a 16-year-old girl student of a coaching institute in Kota. The minister had suggested that a “love affair” was the reason behind her extreme step. Poonia accused Dhariwal of disrespecting the deceased minor girl and insulting her parents. The BJP leader alleged that the minister repeatedly made derogatory remarks about women. He referred to Dhariwal’s previous statement, “Rajasthan mardon ka pradesh hai” (Rajasthan is a land of masculinity), which the minister had made during an debate in assembly on rise in rape cases.
“That derogatory remark by Dhariwal is still fresh in the minds of the people. Now, his false statement about the teenage girl highlights the lack of respect he has for women,” Poonia told TOI.
“Dhariwal should focus on reducing the stress levels among students in Kota and see how to reduce the number of student suicides there. Being an MLA from Kota and a senior minister, he cannot be a mute spectator to the condition of students in the city,” he added. At a press conference in Kota on Wednesday, Dhariwal had said that behind the suicide of the teenage girl was a ‘love affair’. When asked if police recovered any suicide note from the deceased girl’s room, Kota SP Sharad Chaudhary on Friday told TOI, “No comments.” Efforts were made to contact Dhariwal for a response, but neither he nor his staff responded to repeated phone calls on Friday. tnn
