Dengue: Dengue Grips State, Kota And Jaipur Account For 39% Cases | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Dengue is taking a toll on the health of the people. Kota and Jaipur have collectively reported more than 39% dengue cases in the state. The rising cases have become a cause of concern but efforts to contain the spread of the disease in the state are still inadequate.
In the state, 26% dengue cases reported in 2023 were tested positive from January 1 to September 22. The state added 1,516 new dengue cases in the past 10 days.
“Our 210 teams, each comprising three healthcare workers, are conducting door-to-door survey in the houses making people aware about the preventive measures. They are also destroying the breeding spaces of mosquitoes,” said Dr Jagdish Soni, chief medical health officer (Kota).
The recent rains have increased worries for the health authorities. “Rains have again created breeding grounds for the mosquitoes. People should check if water collects in containers on the rooftops and promptly empty them,” said Dr Soni.
“The city is reporting also reporting cases which have symptoms similar to dengue but are not confirmed in laboratory tests. We call it dengue-like illness,” said Dr Vijay Singh, chief medical health officer (Jaipur-I).
Among those testing positive for dengue, some require hospitalization. This year, six persons have died of dengue – two in Jaipur, one each in Tonk, Kota, Jhunjhunu and Dausa.
