Farmer: Jaisalmer Farmer Lodges Defamation Case Against Bjp | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: Farmer Madhuram, resident of Rikhiyon Ki Dhani in Ramdevra of Jaisalmer district, on Monday late evening lodged a defamation case against the BJP at Ramdevra police station for using his photo without permission and with a false claim on the party’s election campaign posters.
The BJP had put up a photo of Madhuram on posters claiming that land of 19,000 farmers had been auctioned by the Gehlot government. Madhuram stated in his complaint to police that his land was never auctioned and he owned 200 bighas of land. The BJP had maligned his image in society, he said, and demanded action against the BJP’s Jaisalmer district president, Ramdevra block president, and other local office bearers.
The BJP had put up the posters under its campaign, ‘Nahi Sahega Rajasthan’. Two days ago Madhuram was called to the chief minister’s office where CM Gehlot assured him that the banners carrying his photograph will be removed.
Ramdevra police station house officer (SHO) Khammaram said that a case of defamation had been lodged based on Madhuram’s complaint and police were investigating the matter.
BJP leader Sawla Ram Devasi in a press conference on Tuesday said that the party had put up a symbolic photo and had nowhere written that this was the farmer whose land had been auctioned. He said that the government had itself admitted in the Assembly that land of 19,000 farmers had been auctioned and 2,000 farmers had committed suicide.
“We were only highlighting the issue of auction of land of farmers but the Congress is doing politics on this issue,” Devasi said.
Bhuraram, eldest son of Madhuram, said that since the photo of his father was published on the posters, the family was getting continuous phone calls to change their statement against the BJP.
