Education: Teachers Stir, Say Apps Can’t Replace Them | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Government teachers have started protesting online education initiatives of the department saying that mobile applications can’t become substitutes to teachers.
Recently, the state education department has started online education initiatives with video lectures for students in schools. Earlier this month, teachers also protested and said that they will not mark attendance of students online through the Shala Darpan application.
The Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Education Teachers’ Association conducted district wise conferences on Friday and Saturday wherein it was decided that teachers will start a campaign demanding that teachers should be freed from non-academic work.
Meanwhile, education secretary Naveen Jain has written to district collectors urging that computer instructors in schools should not be assigned duties for the upcoming election. tnn

College teachers in state get training in digital education
110 teachers from higher education institutes in Goa received training in digital education this week as part of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The training program was organized by the Directorate of Higher Education and the Goa State Higher Education Council in collaboration with SWAYAM national coordinator Consortium for Educational Communication. Faculty members were trained on the conceptualization, design, and development of MOOCs to adapt to the use of technology in classrooms. The need for more high-quality MOOCs in all disciplines was emphasized, and faculty members were encouraged to develop MOOCs in their respective fields.

Haryana work education instructors demand meeting with CM after protests
The Agitating Work Education Instructors Committee in Haryana, India, has been protesting since June 2023 for their demands to be met. They were prevented by the administration and police from meeting the Chief Minister when they attempted to discuss the issue. One protester fell unconscious due to police force. Eventually, a delegation was allowed to meet with a government official who promised to address their concerns. The committee has decided to continue their strike until their demands are met. They have been demanding inclusion in the Council’s Bylaws of 2013.

The teachers demanded that surplus teachers not be transferred and that the actual vacancy position of teachers be shown on the transfer portal. They also called for cashless medical facilities and payment of dues and salaries. The protest resulted in the online transfer portal being put on hold, and a meeting with the education minister and director of education being scheduled.
