Jaipur: The Rajasthan police‘s seizures have reached a staggering Rs 111 crore during a statewide crackdown.
The police announced on Sunday that, in preparation for the Assembly elections, they have seized a staggering Rs 111 crore to prevent the misuse of money power in the electoral process. This figure surpasses the total of Rs 65 crore seized during the entire 60-day duration of the last Assembly election
Police said that the number of seizures this year may significantly exceed those of previous elections. Notable among the seizures are illicit liquor worth Rs 15 crore, drugs valued at Rs 38 crore, and around Rs 15 crore in illegal cash transactions. Gold and silver, potentially linked to election-related transactions, have been confiscated to the tune of Rs 14 crore.
The police said they are also closely monitoring illegal arms and gold and silver trades and have deployed around 2,000 flying squads, resulting in an additional Rs 8 crore in seizures. Over 650 checkpoints have been set up, with more than 250 located on the borders of neighboring states, equipped with CCTV surveillance.
Police pickets have been established at major highway exits, such as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Amritsar-Jamnagar Bharatmala Road, covering approximately 600 and 350 kilometers, respectively. Special teams from districts, police stations and state-level agencies are collaborating, with districts like Banswara, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bhilwara, and Alwar showing high performance in these operations.
A unique eight-digit coding system for all checkpoints has been implemented for monitoring, accountability, and credibility. A dedicated team at the police headquarters is overseeing the operation day and night, using a technical app to coordinate with state-level and central agencies.
