Netflix: Open Waste Depots Increase In Jaipur As Workers Get Poll Duty | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Ahead of Diwali, open waste depots in the city have increased as the sanitation situation deteriorates. Commercial establishments and residents in a few areas have started dumping waste in the open at several places in the past few weeks.
“Usually before Diwali, all focus is on ensuring that the city is clean, but this time there is no staff. Barely 3,000 sanitation workers are working in the whole city due to which the waste collection process is getting impacted.Places where earlier cleaning was done every day, there garbage is being picked up once in three days as sanitation workers are working in different wards on rotation,” said Rakesh Meena, a sanitation worker leader in JMC-Greater. Around 1,000-1,500 have been given duties for election. TNN

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), governed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), passed 54 out of 58 proposals, including the regularization of 5,000 sanitation workers. The opposition, BJP and Congress, criticized the AAP for not following due process and for not taking measures to control dengue and pollution. The proposals also included the disposal of waste at landfill sites and the extension of waste collection contracts. The House proceedings were disrupted by the opposition, who accused the AAP of hiding information and violating the DMC Act. The MCD officials defended their actions, stating that they acted legally and as per guidance from the legal department.
