Jaipur: The Rajasthan DGP Umesh Mishra Friday issued instructions that all necessary measures must be taken to ensure that the common people do not face any inconvenience during the ongoing stop and check operations.
Mishra emphasized that intensive checking is being conducted with the upcoming assembly elections in mind and it is equally important to prioritize the convenience of the general public during these operations.
He instructed all district SPs to ensure the convenience of the common people during the Diwali festival and to exercise caution during the checking campaign. Sources said that many people who had been facing problems as they are being stopped even while travelling with cash for Diwali and wedding shopping.
“The festival of Diwali is approaching, and so is the wedding season. People are concerned about traveling with money, and we want to ensure that no genuine person feels harassed,” said an official.
Traders and businessmen said they are on edge as police crackdowns have intensified, targeting cash transactions over Rs 50,000, which has also now taken the sheen off the Diwali festivity. tnn

According to a report by redBus, there has been a 19% increase in ticket reservations for travel enthusiasts in Mumbai compared to last year, as Diwali approaches. Residents in Noida and Greater Noida are facing issues of water shortage and dirty water supply ahead of Diwali. About 400 residents in Sector 43 complained of no water supply for the past three days, while residents in Sector 3 Greater Noida West received foul-smelling yellowish water that was unusable. Similar problems were reported in other sectors as well. Residents have been forced to rely on stored water in tanks and calling tankers to fulfill their water requirements. Authorities have assured to address the issue soon.
