Kota: A 40-year-old man, identified as Annirudh Nagar, was assaulted with sticks and iron rods by 7-8 men right outside Baran city municipal council on Sunday noon in full public view. A video of the assualt went viral on Sunday evening, prompting the victim’s fellow Dhakad community members to take out a bike rally on Monday and submit a memorandum to the ASP demanding the arrest of the assailants.
Police lodged a case under IPC Sections 323, 307 (attempt to murder) and others against Ajay Sharma, Sanjay, Shayamu and 4-5 others but the accused are yet to be arrested, circle inspector at Baran city police station Rajesh Khatana said.TNN

Ragpicker arrested for killing man with stick, trying to set him ablaze
A 30-year-old ragpicker named Mukhtar Shaikh was arrested by the Azad Maidan police in Mumbai. Shaikh attacked a man named Dawood with a bamboo stick and attempted to set him on fire. The incident occurred at Marine Lines. Shaikh suspected that Dawood had been stealing clothes he collected. He caught Dawood stealing his clothes and proceeded to assault him. Shaikh then burnt an old car seat cover and placed it on Dawood, causing him to sustain 30% burn injuries.
