Malaysian star Queenzy Cheng passes away on set after complaining of sudden uneasiness

Malaysian singer-actress Queenzy Cheng, aged 37, met an untimely demise yesterday, November 28, while filming for the social media channel Squad Sekawan. The tragic incident unfolded on set, leaving the entertainment industry in mourning.
According to Asiaone, Chai Zi, a fellow singer-actor and co-founder of Squad Sekawan alongside Queenzyand other friends, told Chinapress that he had picked her up in the morning, and the team had arrived on set at 8 am.The unfortunate incident occurred during the filming of the first episode, which commenced at 8:30 am after the group had breakfast. As the team prepared for the second episode around 10:30 am, Queenzy reportedly sat down in a chair, expressing feelings of dizziness, a headache, and nausea. Chai Zi further stated that Queenzy had vomited, either stomach acid or saliva, prompting the staff to call for an ambulance. Being conscious at the time, Queenzy provided her mobile phone passcode to allow the team to contact her boyfriend for her medical records. Her boyfriend indicated that while Queenzy had always been in good health. The report further stated that staff members equipped with first aid skills attended to Queenzy, but her condition rapidly deteriorated. Chai Zi was quoted, “Staff who could provide first aid checked on her. Queenzy was still breathing when she lost consciousness, but her heart was beating very fast, and soon after, her lips, hands, and feet turned purple.”
According to Asiaone, the ambulance arrived within a mere five minutes, however Queenzy could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead on the scene. The timeline of the tragic event was distressingly brief, with Chai Zi noting, “From the time she said she was dizzy to the time she died, it was only 30 to 40 minutes”. The cause of Queenzy Cheng’s sudden death remains pending autopsy results.
The heartbreaking news was officially announced on Queenzy’s Instagram page, triggering an outpouring of condolences from her peers in the entertainment industry.

A beloved Malaysian singer, Queenzy captured the hearts of many with her soulful voice, particularly through her enchanting Chinese New Year songs that resonated with joy and tradition. Her musical legacy will forever echo in our hearts, serving as a comforting reminder of the joy she brought to countless lives. As we mourn the loss of a talented artist, let us also celebrate the vibrant spirit and cultural richness she shared through her music and acting. Details of the memorial service will be communicated soon. In this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Queenzy’s family, friends, and all those touched by her beautiful melodies. May she rest in eternal peace,” read a statement on her official Instagram handle.
Singapore-based Malaysian actress Sora Ma expressed her grief with a sobbing emoji, while Malaysian actress Koe Yeet remarked, “Heaven gained an angel today. We will miss you”.
Joey Leong, another Malaysian actress, shared “Memories of you being talkative, laughing and warm are all still fresh in my mind. I feel like I haven’t had the chance to have a long conversation with you but you have already…” In a poignant tribute, Joey Leong concluded with a heartfelt, “I really don’t want to write this sentence but, rest in peace.” The industry, along with fans and colleagues, now grapples with the unexpected departure of a vibrant talent, remembering Queenzy Cheng for the joy she brought to their lives.
