From Abvp To Zila Parishad To Dy Cm, Bairwa Has Risen Through The Bjp Ranks | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Prem Chand Bairwa, who will be one of two deputy chief ministers, is MLA from Dudu assembly seat near Jaipur. He is a resident of Srinivas Puram in Maujmabad tehsil in Jaipur and belongs to a Dalit family.
He rose though the ranks in the BJP starting his political career from the ABVP. Bairwa worked at the grassroots from the block organisation in 1995 and was elected as a member of the Zilla Parishad Jaipur from ward number 15 in 2000.He worked as president of Jaipur district SC (Scheduled Caste) Morcha and general secretary of BJP Jaipur mandal.
The 54-year-old MLA defeated Congress candidate Babulal Nagar with a substantial margin of 35,743 votes in the 2023 assembly polls in Dudu. Bairwa was defeated by Nagar in the 2018 elections by a margin of 14,779 votes.
He holds a PhD from the Rajasthan university awarded in 2010 and is also a ‘crorepati’. His total assets according to election affidavit are around Rs 4.83 crore. His and his spouse’s occupation is shown as agriculture and business in his election affidavit.
The choice of Bairwa is being seen as an attempt by the BJP to balance caste equations by naming a Brahmin face as the chief minister and Rajput and Scheduled Caste leaders as the deputy chief ministers. The Bairwa Scheduled Caste (SC) community has traditionally voted for the Congress and the naming of Prem Chand Bairwa is been seen as a strategic move by the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Bairwa had secured a victory in the Dudu constituency in 2013 as well, defeating Congress candidate Hazari Lal Nagar with an impressive margin of 33,720 votes.
