Suspended JMC Greater mayor Somya Gurjar

JAIPUR: Suspended JMC Greater mayor Somya Gurjar got no relief from the Supreme Court which refused to stay the order of her suspension on Tuesday.
Manish Singhvi, appearing for JMC-Greater, informed that a judicial probe is on and is in its final stage. The next hearing is scheduled on December 20 and the court should consider the matter after the conclusion of the judicial probe on which the matter has been posted for next hearing on February 1.
The state government had suspended Gurjar from the post of mayor and three other councillors after an alleged assault on its commissioner Yagyamitra Singh Deo on June 6.
After the suspension, the state government also started a judicial inquiry into the matter. The decision of suspension of the government was challenged by Gurjar in the Rajasthan High Court, but the court refused to interfere and stayed the orders of suspension till the judicial inquiry is done in this entire case.
After the HC did not give any relief, Gurjar challenged the matter in the SC. The matter has been heard thrice in the SC, but till now no relief has been given except directing to expedite the judicial probe.
The state government in the meanwhile appointed BJP councillor Sheel Dhabai as acting mayor and has recently extended her tenure till December 3.
Now, with the court hearing scheduled only in February next year, she is likely to get another extension.
