According to the police, Meena had received Rs 1.22 crore from Uda Ram Bishnoi and others. Rs 71 lakh were seized earlier on Wednesday along with Rs 11 lakh in different bank accounts was frozen.
Police said that as of now, they have recovered Rs 1,03,80,000 in the case.
In another significant development, the state police have intensified their investigation in the Barmer and Jalore regions of the western-Rajasthan, especially after they arrested two accused from Barmer on Wednesday, idenitfied as Bhajana Lal and Sohni Devi.
The senior police officials on Saturday also held a meeting in Jalore over the matter.
As per the police, several suspects in Jalore and Barmer are under the scanner for their alleged involvement in the racket. The police teams also brought Bhajan Lal and Sohini Devi with them to Barmer to probe their local connections in the region.
The Rajasthan police had been drawing up a list of suspects who allegedly benefited from the racket. The investigation gathered up the pace when the police arrested Ramkripal Meena and Uda Ram Bishnoi on January 26. Meena has been accused of stealing one REET paper from the strongroom of Shiksha Sankul on the night of September 24. The REET papers were being transported to different places from the Sankul’s complex in JLN Marg when the accused managed to take out one envelope.
He took out one REET paper and then packed up the envelope in order to evade any suspicion. He allegedly handed over the same paper to Uda Ram Bishnoi on September 25. Bishnoi, on the other hand, is accused of distributing the paper to as many as seven different locations across Jaipur.
The Rajasthan police have not revealed if the stolen paper has been recovered or not. Meanwhile, the education board seemed to have disregarded important security protocols as private persons were posted in the REET duties despite the fact that the department has no dearth of teachers. Both district coordinator Pradeep Parashar and the other accused Ramkripal Meena were private persons. Secondly, the question papers are kept inside treasury offices as per conventions, but in this case, papers were kept in the Shiksha Sankul complex where security measures were spotty as no one took notice of the missing paper from the envelope.
A total of 38 accused have been arrested so far in the case. Rajasthan police believe that more arrests are likely in the case soon as the investigation is now focused on all suspects who allegedly were connected with the accused and benefited from the racket.
