“In my entire political career, I have never seen such an atmosphere before. It is unfortunate. We have writers writing the truth but now they also feel that nothing is changing with their writing,” said Gehlot.
Taking a dig at PM Narendra Modi’s mockery of MGNREGA by calling it a symbol of Congress’s failure, he said, “During Covid, it was MGNREGA which supported the rural part of the country and continues to provide a source of livelihood.”
He called the founder of Barefoot College, Sanjit (Bunker) Roy an institute himself who has transformed the lives of people by his vision. Highlighting the importance of social activism in democracy, he said, “Activists like Aruna Roy, Nikhil Dey and Kavita Srivastava have never spared any government when it comes to raising concerns of the common man.”
