Jaipur: The Centre recently released Rs 1,900 crore meant for material component and administrative purposes under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)
Of the total amount received, Rs 1710.27 crore was meant for material components and Rs 189.73 crore for administrative expenses. Under MGNREGA, a payment of Rs 3,030 crore was pending as part of the material component as on July 11.
A statement issued by the rural development department said, “Of the total outstanding amount, Rs 2,280.27 crore (including the state share) has been sanctioned by the finance department for the payment of material items. Efforts are being made by the state government to make the government of India release the remaining outstanding amount meant for material components as a part of central share.”
Rural development and panchayati raj minister Ramesh Chand Meena held a meeting with officials of the department on Monday to discuss this issue. TNN
