Min Asks Officials To Run Social Harmony Campaign In State | Jaipur News
Jaipur: In the backdrop of the incident of death after beating a Dalit student by a school teacher in Jalore district, social justice and empowerment minister Tika Ram Jully on Wednesday gave instructions to run a campaign to spread ‘social harmony’ in the state.
The minister gave directions to the officials of the department to prepare an action plan for the ‘social harmony’ campaign. He said under the campaign, awareness will be created among people about various provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Constitution.
“People will be educated about social harmony being the basis of our culture, and that it unites all religions, ideas and the society in the same thread,” said Jully.
Apart from this, the minister instructed the officials to write letters to home, higher education and school education departments asking them to register cases under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act if there is any discrimination against children in sitting arrangements or distribution of food at schools.
He also directed the officers to organise meetings of district and block level vigilance and monitoring committees constituted under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act from time to time.
The minister also gave instructions to the officials of the department to personally contact beneficiaries of social security pension schemes who are not receiving pension on a regular basis. He asked them to submit a report after taking appropriate action.
“It is a serious issue if the deprived sections of society are not getting pension on a regular basis. Take effective action on this,” said Jully.
He also gave directions to the officers to get the fake pensioners identified, conduct a probe, recover the money and take legal action against them.
Secretary of the department Samit Sharma directed the officials to ensure early disposal of 120 pending complaints received on the National Help Desk portal related to SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. .
