Hurt By Kite Flying, Many Land In Hosp | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The kite flying festival turned into despair for many in the city as they had to be rushed to hospitals for the treatment of injuries they received by falling from high places while flying kites and getting sliced by the strings of kites on Saturday.
As many as 11 people who were injured by falling from high places were rushed to SMS Hospital and other government hospitals by the 108 ambulance service. Two of them were from Jhalana Doongri, two others from Shahpura, and one each from Ghat Ke Balaji temple area, Shastri Nagar, Subhash Chawk, Abhaipura, Sanganer, Sitarampura and Malar Kalan.
Eight others who received injuries by snapped kite strings were also rushed to hospitals by the ambulances. Three such incidents of kite string injuries were reported in Khirni Phatak, two in Phulera, and one each from Choti Chauper, Vaishali Nagar and Vidhyadhar Nagar. SMS Hospital alone received 65 patients with kite-related injuries. One of them, who had fallen from a height, had to be admitted to the ICU. Dr Achal Sharma, the hospital’s medical superintendent, said the patient’s condition remains critical.
Mukesh Yadav, a patient’s attendant at ITO, said his friend received a cut by a falling kite’s string while riding a bike. SMS Hospital received 12 people with cuts received from kite strings.
