Capt Yudhvir Singh Gets Shaurya Chakra | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Captain Yudhvir Singh of the Mechanised Infantry in the 9th Battalion of Rashtriya Rifles was conferred with the Shaurya Chakra, the country’s third highest peacetime gallantry award, on Republic Day on Thursday. Singh hails from Kunadi in Kota district.
Captain Singh was picked for the award for his extraordinary courage, demonstration of exceptional leadership and bravery, and valour with utter disregard for personal safety during an operation in Kulgam district.
On April 11, 2022, Captain Singh led a covert surveillance and interception team based on specific intelligence regarding terrorist’s movement in a vehicle in Kulgam district. After observing the suspect vehicle, he blocked the escape routes for terrorists and they, after being cornered, opened heavy fire upon the officer.
But an undeterred Captain Singh and his team engaged the terrorists with effective fire.
The swift retaliation forced the terrorists to seek refuge in a nearby house, which was then cordoned by Captain Yudhvir’s team. When the terrorists again attempted to escape by lobbing grenades and firing indiscriminately, the officer sensed danger to the lives of civilians and his team and displayed steely nerves.
In an act of conspicuous bravery, Captain Singh crawled to a likely escape route of the terrorists and surprised them with spectacular dash along with lethal and precise fire onto them from close range, thus eliminating a hard-core foreign terrorist.
