Robbers Kill Woman, Chop Off Her Hands To Loot Silver Bangles | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Robbers attacked a 58-year-old woman, chopped off her hands and looted silver bangles at Gaovdi village under Deoli police station area of Tonk on Thursday.
The woman had taken her cattle for grazing to Sirohi a village, almost 2km away from her village, when she was attacked and killed by robbers. Villagers and family members protesting against the incident were unwilling to take the body till Friday evening.
According to police, Laadi Gurjar had taken her cattle out for grazing. “When she did not return till late in the evening, her family members and villagers launched a hunt to find her. Her body was spotted with chopped off hands at a farm. Our team reached the spot along with the team of forensic experts,” said an officer of Deoli police station on Friday.
Police said it was a clear case of “murder for gain”. “Prima facie it appears that the robbers chopped off her hands to loot her silver bangles. In the past too, we had witnessed similar incidents in which either hands or legs were chopped off to loot silver ornaments. We have constituted a team to nail down the culprits,” the officer added.
Soon after spotting the body of the woman, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot. Police and administration officials reached the spot and claimed that arrests would be made in this connection. However, villagers and family members were not willing to accept the body until their demands including arrests of the accused and compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of deceased were met.
