Covid-19: Dip in daily cases continues as Rajasthan records 6,000 fresh infections | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Dip in daily infections continued on Friday as the state witnessed 6,225 Covid-19 cases.
With the continuous dip, there has also been a dip in the active cases which have now come down to 1,31,806. Jaipur, too, saw a down trend with 1,251 cases being detected on Friday. However, 129 people lost their lives while battling with the virus. Compared to the past week when the state had 2,12,753 active cases, the same has come down to 1,31,806 Following this, majority of the hospitals have started witnessing vacant beds situation. “We have almost 20% beds vacant now and are able to provide oxygen as per the requirement to patients. Also, in the past one week, the number of discharges was more than the daily detected cases,” Dr Ajeet Singh, superintendent of RUHS, told TOI.
For the first time during second wave, majority of the areas in the city reported cases below 100. Also, Jaipur witnessed 28 deaths, which took its toll to 1,699. “For the past one week, we are witnessing dip. It has enabled us to serve the patients better as available resources are now being utilized properly. Still, people should continue following Covid appropriate behaviour, social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitisation,” said Dr Ravi Prakash Sharma, additional director (rural health).
Jaipur was followed by Jodhpur where 12 deaths were reported, which took its total death count to 997.
Districts which reported new cases are Jaipur (1,251), Jodhpur (548), Udaipur
(448), Sriganganagar (331), Alwar (302) and 301 cases from Kota.
Authorities at the CMHO office Jaipur also added that majority of the hospitals now have availability of oxygen-enabled beds. “Even, the number of calls we were getting for admissions, Remdesivir and oxygen have gone down in the past one week. Still, we can’t be complacent as Covid appropriate behaviour is necessary to strike down the intensity of the virus,” said health minister Raghu Sharma.
