Admn Swings Into Action As 70 People Taken Ill In Barmer | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Barmer district administration in Rajasthan has been put on alert after more than 70 people fell ill likely due to a viral disease, a health department official said on Tuesday.
The health department teams are camping in Tirsingri village of Barmer district for the past few days as cases of fever are continuously being reported here. In the past few days, 70 people have been found suffering fever and stomach pain.
The health department has admitted the patients from the village to Barmer district hospital. Officials said that around 40 patients have been hospitalized over the past few days. “Two persons have been admitted today and five have been discharged from the hospital,” said Dr C S Gajraj, chief medical health officer (Barmer).
Health department teams including deputy CMHO Barmer, Dr P C Deepan are taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease. People in the area suspect that they have been infected with dengue virus. But, the health department is waiting for the reports to ascertain the cause of illness. “We have taken blood samples of the patients to find out if they have developed symptoms due to dengue or any other viral illness,” said Dr Gajraj.
The health department’s team are conducting anti-larvae activities in the area while spreading awareness about vector-borne diseases in the village.
