Man Ends Life In City, Family Lays Blame On ‘loan Mafia’ | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: A 59-year-old businessman in Jaipur killed himself on Wednesday by consuming poison after being allegedly threatened by the loan mafia.
Kotwali police station’s sub-inspector (SI) Dashrath Singh said that family members of deceased Rajesh Kumar Goyal had filed a complaint against several persons. A case has been filed under IPC Section 306 (abetment of suicide).
The family claimed that Goyal had taken a loan from several accused who took blank cheques and signed stamps from the deceased. They alleged that even as Goyal kept paying money regularly to clear his debts, the accused threatened and blackmailed him to extort money worth several crores. They also alleged in the complaint that the accused had refused to return blank cheques and signed stamps to Goyal.
The family told police that the accused kept threatening Goyal due to which he ended his life. A case has been registered and a probe is on, said a police official.
“The family alleged that the businessman had consumed poison due to the loan mafia. They have also claimed that the accused were also threatening the family,” the official said, adding that further investigation was underway.
“The deceased also left a suicide note. We are trying to examine its contents,” said a police official.
