Jaisalmer: The district police will maintain coordination with border security and intelligence agencies to control smuggling and other criminal activities in the border areas of the district and to strengthen internal security, said the newly appointed SP of Jaisalmer, Vikas Sangwan, on Thursday.
Strict measures will also be taken for the security of tourists and to get rid of the problem of lapkas in the forthcoming tourist season, said Sangwan at a press briefing. Speaking on the incident of the abduction of a woman from Salkha village and getting her forcibly married in Mohangarh police station area, the SP said four accused have been arrested , and a suspicious man, Anoop Singh, has been detained and is being interrogated. Police are working on arresting eight named accused in the case, he said.
In view of rising incidents of consignments of heroin being caught and drones being used for smuggling of drugs, Sangwan said coordination with intelligence and other security agencies would be strengthened to curb such incidents. tnn
