Aadhaar-based payment of MGNREGA workers mandatory in Rajasthan | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The government of India has made it mandatory for the state government to link Aadhaar details of MGNREGA labourers with their bank accounts for release of their payments/wages. Due to this, there is a delay in the payment of wages of lakhs of MGNREGA workers in the state.
The Centre has also asked the state to clear payments of mates and masons for releasing its share of material payment under MGNREGA. While 100 per cent of labour payment is done by the Centre, 25% of material payment is done by the state government and 75% by the government of India.
“The Centre has made Aadhaar-based payment system mandatory for MGNREGA workers. For this, we are required to link bank accounts of workers to their Aadhaar cards. It takes around 10-15 days to do this. We are setting up camps in all districts to link Aadhaar cards to their bank accounts,” said an official of the rural development and panchayati raj.
