Aai Team Set To Review Barmer Airport Land Allotment Next Wk | Jaipur News
Jaipur: The state government held a meeting with Union civil aviation secretary on Tuesday to improve the airport network in Rajasthan.
In the meeting, it was decided that a team of Airport Authority of India (AAI) will go to Uttarlai, Barmer next Wednesday where the land allotted for the airport will be reviewed and further action will be ensured.
Officials also said that expansion of Jodhpur airport was discussed for which environmental clearance is pending.
After the meeting, Shubhra Singh, additional chief secretary, coordination and chief resident commissioner, New Delhi, said, “In this year’s budget, the state government has reduced VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to 2% to promote civil aviation services in Rajasthan. Land allotment for Uttarlai Airport in Barmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur was also discussed. A team of AAI will go to Uttarlai, Barmer on next Wednesday where the land allotted for the airport will be reviewed and further action will be ensured.” Earlier, VAT on aviation turbine fuel was 26% in the state.
She further said that necessary action will be taken after getting the environmental clearance for the expansion of Jodhpur airport. The state government has also requested the union government to start services on 24 interstate routes finalized by the union ministry under the Regional Connectivity Scheme. At present only two routes are in operation.
To boost air connectivity, the summer schedule from the Jaipur airport has new flights proposed to Bareilly, Belgaum, Pant Nagar, Nagpur, Ranchi and Patna.
Officials also said that Rajasthan government has arranged for 2,000 drones and pilot training for them. On this the union secretary advised that the central government also formed a ‘Special Cell’ to specifically develop drones and its pilot, which the state government can use for coordination and take this work forward.
