Absconding Ex-forest Officer Appears At Court, Arrested | Jaipur News

Kota: A special unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Kota, on Monday arrested a retired district forest officer who was absconding for 6 months in a graft case registered in 2020. The accused officer, on direction by the Rajasthan high court on his interim bail application, produced himself before the ACB court earlier in the day, which sent him to judicial custody.
The retired divisional forest officer (DFO), Rajeev Kapoor, has been sent to judicial custody till May 29, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), ACB, Kota special unit, Dharmveer Singh said.
Kapoor is alleged to have been involved in a bribery case of Rs 40,000, along with co-accused forest ranger Ravi Nama and Nama’s private driver Rajesh Sharma, while he was posted as DFO in Baran district in September 2020, the DSP said.
Acting on a complaint of demand of bribe of Rs 40,000, received on September 16, 2020, in exchange for release of two tractor-trolleys in Nahargarh area of Baran district, the ACB arrested the ranger Ravi Nama and his driver for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 through the driver, the DSP said.
The ranger named DFO Rajeev Kapoor as involved in the bribery ring and following investigation, Kapoor was booked under criminal charges. Permission for prosecution was sought from the state department of personnel (DOP), DSP Singh said, adding that meanwhile, Kapoor retired from service on September 30, 2020.
After permission from DOP, Kapoor was served notice to appear before ACB in December 2022, but he went absconding from his house and later filed an application for interim bail in the high court, which ordered him to appear before the ACB court.
