Jaipur: The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in October sought permission from the state government to inquire with senior IAS officer Akhil Arora as part of their probe into the seized tender files from the office of information technology and communication (DoIT). The ACB had sent a letter to the Department of Personnel (DoP) in October, requesting that in relation to case number 125/2023, after examining the seized tender files of the office of Information Technology and Communication Department, Yojana Bhawan, Jaipur, it was found that the case deserves a detailed investigation.
The letter mentioned that under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (as amended in 2018), prior approval from the competent authority is necessary for investigating crimes related to decisions or recommendations made by a public servant to discharge official functions or duties.
“We had sought permission for an enquiry related to the DoIT case in which we require questioning IAS officer Akhil Arora. As per Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, if we need to quiz any officer for his recommendations or decision-making, we need permission. As of today, we are yet to receive any approval in this regard,” said a senior officer of ACB. tnn
