ACB nabs JMC’s fire officer, driver while taking Rs 50,000 bribe | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The ACB on Thursday arrested the chief fire officer of Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater, Jagdish Phulwariya, and his driver, Shravan Kumar, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The bribe was allegedly demanded by Phulwariya for issuing a fire no-objection certificate (NOC) to a firm that had installed some fire equipment at a few places. Investigations have also found that Phulwariya was allegedly asking applicants seeking NOC to buy fire equipment from an agency run by his son, said officials.
ACB director general BL Soni said a complainant had approached the headquarters alleging that the chief fire officer was demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from him for issuing a fire NOC.
JMC fire officer wanted son’s agency to gain
Jaipur: “The complainant has a firm that installs fire equipment. After installation at some places, when the firm’s owner approached the fire officer for the NOC, the accused fire officer demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from him. Our team verified the complaint and laid a trap,” said Soni.
An ACB team led by additional SP Bajrang Singh laid a trap in which Phulwariya and his driver Shravan Kumar were caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
“At least 5,000 buildings in the city were under him (Phulwariya), for which he was issuing fresh NOC or conducting renewal of expiring NOCs. We will see if a separate DA case can be lodged against him,” said Soni. A probe found that Phulwariya’s son Nikhilesh runs an agency of fire instruments. “People seeking fire NOCs were asked to buy fire equipment from this agency,” added Singh.
